DOHUK 29MW POWER PLANT
The power plant was first constructed in 2000 for a cost of 25 million dollars by a Danish company (BSWC) and put into operation in 2001.
The plant works on diesel oil and has the below specifications:
- Designed capacity: 29 MW (4 units * 7.4)
- Engine Types: V32/40 Man B&W
- Alternators type: ABB/ Finland
- Plant total production: 798500 MWH
The plant stopped its operations in 2007 due to severe defects and major overhauls required for the engines. In November 2010, Middle East Power (MEP) signed a seven years contract with the Kurdistan Region Government to rehabilitate, operate and maintain the power plant.
MEP dedicated its specialized technical team to proceed with the maintenance of the plant and worked jointly with MAN diesel on insuring all required parts are available and mantled to put the plant into operation.
